Tools for your own server

One self-hosted project with the eleven-service core stack. Optional Logs and Analytics services are not enabled.

Application data

Store application records, user accounts and agent history in PostgreSQL. Configure API permissions and row-level security for your data.

Files and live updates

Use Storage for application files and Realtime for connected clients. Set bucket access policies and choose the changes clients can receive.

Studio and Edge Functions

Manage the project in Studio and deploy your own Edge Functions. AI providers, SMTP and OAuth credentials require separate configuration.

Choose a starting configuration

OS
Ubuntu 24.04, amd64.
Resources
Template minimum: 2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM and 50 GB NVMe. Supabase recommends 4 CPU cores, 8 GB RAM and 80 GB SSD or more. Leave room for database and file growth.
Access
API and Studio initially listen on localhost:8000. Use an SSH tunnel; configure your domain, public URLs and HTTPS proxy before public access.
Costs
Software license terms apply. VPS billing, domains, and external services are separate.

Set up your application

  1. Choose Supabase, Latest, Ubuntu 24.04 and a plan with at least 2 vCPU and 4 GB RAM. Prefer 8 GB RAM for the full core stack.
  2. Wait for first-boot installation. Connect by SSH and read the installed access guide.
  3. Open an SSH tunnel and sign in to Studio with the privately generated administrator credentials. Keep server API keys private.
  4. Connect your application, set data access policies and configure backups. Add HTTPS, public URLs, SMTP or OAuth when your project needs them.

Questions about this VPS

  • First installation selects the newest stable official self-hosted release group and records its compatible images. Restarts and installer reruns keep that installed group. Back up your project before a planned manual upgrade.
  • This runs one self-hosted Supabase project on your VPS. You manage access, updates and backups. Optional Logflare and Vector services are not enabled. Supabase Cloud management and backup services are not included.
  • Auth users, PostgreSQL data, Storage files, Functions and configuration remain on the server. Back up persistent data together with credentials and encryption configuration. Test restores before upgrades, especially a major PostgreSQL migration.
